[Joker was playing on easy mode and ended up so over-leveled that it was a simple matter to punch through a steel door and pull Akechi out by the scruff of his neck, potato-sack-carry him out of the palace, and drag him back to Cafe Leblanc. And since he now knows that Shido wants him dead, he doesn't have anywhere else to go, now does he?

Akira has confidants to grind and burgers to eat, so it might be a few days before they head back to that cruise ship. So while the party waits, enjoy this gloomy rookie detective sulking around the cafe.]

[Of the Phantom Thieves, Yusuke has taken to the readdition to the team more warmly than others. They all have reason to treat him with some degree of sympathy, and for Yusuke's part, he understands uniquely what it is to be seen as little more than a tool, to be used by a man that should have been a father. He can't justify his actions, but nor can he fully condemn him, knowing that if things had been different, he might have turned out the same way.

For that reason, his desire is to protect Akechi, just as the Thieves have saved countless others. Moreover, now he's a true member of the team, perhaps it's time the detective experienced the things he'd envied so much.

Which is why Yusuke invites himself over to Leblanc one chill December morning, sketchbook in tow. He says his hellos to Sojiro and orders a coffee, before joining Akechi wherever he chooses to sulk today.]

... Good morning, Akechi-san.

[Though there are no customers here, Akechi has followed the leader's helpful advice on how to pretend to be dead and is wearing a super discreet hoodie. He sits in the a corner booth, facing the wall and staring into his coffee, so spaced out he jumps a bit upon hearing his name.]

Good morning, Kitagawa-san. Do you... need something?

[Passive-aggression had not been his intent, but he's just so on edge that it ends up coming out that way anyway.]

[Yusuke sits opposite, setting down the coffee he'd brought from the bar. He doesn't seem to notice he startled Akechi, probably because of how often he elicits that reaction from people.]

No, not at all. [...Passive-aggression is also something that goes way over his head.] I heard Akira is busy today, so I thought I would drop by.

Because he's busy?

[surely that cannot be correct???]

Well, yes. I thought that if he was busy, you might want some company. Hanging around Leblanc all day can't be terribly interesting.

[sitting up a little straighter]

Well, the coffee is good... but no, I can't say it is.

[Sips his coffee, nodding in agreement.]

Then why don't we go somewhere? As long as we avoid any busy thoroughfares where you're likely to be recognised, it should be safe. I even brought my sketchbook for the occasion.

[Hesitates before answering]

Sure. Where would you like to go?

[Success! He'd been hoping Akechi would say yes, so his answer is already prepared.]

Let's see... There is an arts festival at a local gallery I would like to attend, and then I would like to take a walk through Yoyogi Park, where there is an antiques market. In the evening, I would like to view the festive illuminations in Marunouchi, because I have been far too busy to be able to enjoy them for the past month.

[Art, more art, spending money on art, and looking at pretty things that are artisically pleasing. That's pretty much Yusuke's ideal day itinerary.]

Ah, but if there is anywhere you would like to go today as well, I am sure we can make time for it. What do you think?

[On one hand, what the hell? But on the other... eh, what the hell.]

It's all the same to me. We can go wherever you want.

Excellent. I'm glad to have someone with appreciation for the arts on the team.

[That's totally what this is about, right???]

Do I give off that impression?

[wantsnudes]

Not as such. But ordinarily, the only one who wishes to spend time with me in such places is Akira.

[afailedmurder]

Is that so? He definitely doesn't give off that impression.

[wantsnudes]

Looks can be deceiving. I admit, I thought he was little more than an uncultured thug when we first met. [Somewhere behind the bar, Sojiro is laughing at that remark. Yusuke never pulls his punches.]

Yet now, it is a privilege to say he is my greatest supporter in my own art.

[Akechi chuckles at that one, too.]

I wouldn't say those two things are mutually exclusive. Is it really your art that he's interested in?

[wantsnudes]

[Yusuke looks puzzled, sipping his coffee.]

Perhaps in the beginning, he was interested in supporting me only as a friend, and as a teammate. But after all the aid he has extended to me in my work, I'm sure his interest is sincere.

[afailedmurder]

[shrugs lightly]

Perhaps so. I can't speak for him. But me, I pretend to be interested in all sorts of things for the sake of others.

[wantsnudes]

This again...? [He shakes his head, appalled.] You don't have to pretend to be interested in anything for my sake, Akechi-san. The greatest strength of our group is that we are unafraid to be ourselves, regardless of whether it appeases others or not.

That's not what I mean. It honestly doesn't matter to me where we go. I'm only saying that sometimes when a person wants someone to like them, that's what they do. What makes you so sure he's any different?

[wantsnudes]

Even if that were the case, and he did not care for my art, I know he cares for me as a friend. When I first joined the Phantom Thieves, I was crippled by artist's block, and it was only the continued support of him and the others that have allowed me to overcome it.

If his goal was simply for me to like him, surely he would not have gone through such trouble? I know I have hardly been easy company to keep.
