[Today, when Fool Bright comes to pick up his prosecutor, he is not to be found in his cell. As it turns out, he was put in solitary for the day for fighting. And there he sits, gloomy as ever, his dark eye bags brightened up with a nice splash of purple.]

[The detective is at least an hour late picking him up. That's because he was not immediately informed of the relocation, something that can become apparent to Simon when Bobby starts arguing within earshot with the guard posted just outside solitary, lecturing that don't have the authority to restrict his access to his charge and that this punishment is too extreme for someone progressing through a rehabilitation program.]

[Abruptly, the door swings open, with Bobby standing fully in the door frame.]

Prosecutor Blackquill?

[Looks up slowly. His lip has been split and is crusty with dried blood. It's dripped onto his uniform as well; he's clearly made no attempt to wipe it away.]

Ah, Fool Bright. I was wondering when you would show up.

[thefaceofjustice]

Your face......

[Glances back towards the hall, then steps inside, slowly closing the door behind him.]

[Now his booming voice has softened to a quieter tone:]

...Did a guard do that to you?

[weeabird]

[snickers]

Why Fool Bright, everyone knows that the guards would never lay hands on inmate. Though there are many who seem to be injured in quite spectacular and inexplicable fashions, in the end they all proclaim, "I did this to myself."

[Just. Gives a concerned/reproachful look at that snickering.]

Differences in humor aside, the answer to your query is no; the group of scoundrels with whom I had my little altercation are currently occupying either hospital beds or quaint rooms just like this one.

[Keeping his handkerchief out after that crying fit. And going over to the sink to dampen it with cold water.]

[Now he's approaching Simon with the wet cloth.]

[Holds out his hand for the cloth, silently indicating his desire to clean up on his own, like a lone warrior standing amidst bloodied corpses that litter the battlefield. The sun sets today on his victory, but at what cost?]

There's no mirrors in here. Mind if I..?

[Stares at him for such an awkwardly long time it initially seems like he's not going to respond at all. But eventually he drops his hand and responds.]

Go on, then.

[Puts a hand under Simon's chin to hold him in place while he starts wiping away the blood.]

You should really be more careful with your face.

[weeabird]

[glancing away]

You'll excuse me if I was more concerned with defending my vital organs.

[Somehow that did not occur to him.]

Oh. Are you injured anywhere else?

[Presses the cold cloth on his bruise.]

[winces a little upon contact]

I am fine.

They really only hit you on your face? But you're much taller than most of the other inmates.

[stops, seeming to change his mind about what he's going to say]

...Hmph. I am not such a poor fighter that I would allow untrained ruffians to land a serious blow.

[Takes his hand off of Simon's face (well that was awkwardly long wasn't it), and hands him the damp cloth.]

Well, that's good to hear. But you know, strong fighters get hurt, too. Remember that case we worked on where the victim was a pro wrestler? And you might not believe it but even I, a hero of justice, have been injured in the line of duty!

[Takes it almost absent-mindedly. He's focused on Fool Bright.]
